Location and transport accessibility: The Razgrad municipality is situated along the valley of the Beli Lom River in the direction southeast - northwest, 60 km away from Rousse, 130 km away from Varna, 55 km away from Shoumen and 36 km away from Targovishte. The first class road Rousse - Varna and a railway line, which are the shortest strategic connection between the Danube and the Black Sea, pass through the municipality's administrative centre. By the statistics from 1999 the town of Razgrad has 53576 inhabitants. All settlements are connected with asphalted roads, whose surface is however strongly worn out. The first Bulgarian railway line passes through the Razgrad municipality. The municipality is connected by transport arteries with the nearest harbours and airports, which makes the passenger and freight services and the air and sea cargo services. Distances from the municipal centre Razgrad to: • the nearest checkpoint to Europe and the nearest international river harbour in the town of Rousse – 65km; • the nearest international sea harbour and the Varna Airport – 136km; • by the republican road network to the capital Sofia – 370km. The total length of the street network in the settlements was 448 km by the end of 1999, including 121 km in the town of Razgrad and 327 km in the remaining settlements. The town has its rest objects, of which especially important are the rest zones in the Pchelina area, the youth park and the town park. Specific rest objects are the dam lakes, which are the citizens' favorite places for fishing and rest. The attractive tourist objects situated on the municipality's territory – the Voden hunting reserve, the Pchelina area, the archaeological complex Sboryanovo and the Sveshtarska grobnitsa (a sepulchre) in it, the remains of the antique town of Abritus and the Ethnographical Museum in the village of Pobit Kamak - are a potential for attracting investments into tourism, which is not a traditional branch of the region's economy.
