Yablanitza

Yablanitza municipality is situated in the Northern part of the Pre-Balkan. The distance to Sofia is 85 km. The municipal centre – the town of Yablanitza – is situated in immediate proximity to the Hemus Highway. It is a transport junction for the following directions: Sofia – Varna, Sofia - Rouse, Teteven – Vratza, Sofia – Gabrovo, etc. With a decree of the Council of Ministers as of 27. VII. 1969 Yablanitza has been pronounced a town, and since 1979 it a municipality. It is a part of Lovech Region, and its territory comprises 276 sq. km. Yablanitza is 70 km. from the municipal centre. The territory of Yablanitza municipality comes to 4.9% km. from the territory of Lovetch region and ranks 7th compared to the remaining 7 municipalities in the region. It borders the municipalities Lukovit, Pravetz, Roman, and Teteven. The municipality comprises 9 settlements: the town of Yablanitza, and the villages Zlatna Panega, Brestnitza, Dobrevtzi, Oreshari, Batultzi, Malak izwor, Brestnitza, and Dabrava. The population of the municipality is 6830 inhabitants. Yablanitza Municipality is situated at 400 m. above the sea level. It is located in the middle sub-area of the Pre-Balkan. On the west it is bordered by the valleys of the rivers Bebrash, Malak Iskar and Iskar, and to the east it reaches to the valley of the river Stara Reka. This part of the pre-Balkan is characterized by well marked hills and low mountains, dominated by the mountains in the lower course of the Vit river. The terrain is rough and half-mountainous. It is characterized by karst formations and diversity of the flora and fauna. There are plenty of limestone rocks here. There are also beds of marble and rocks, furthering the development of cement in the village of Zlatna Panega.
